Our mission

Making affirming help easy to find.

Outline exists so that no LGBTQ+ young person has to dig through a scary, confusing internet to find support that actually respects them. We gather the good stuff in one calm, private place.

Why we built this

Finding mental health support is hard for anyone. For an LGBTQ+ teenager who isn’t out, or isn’t sure which adults are safe, it can feel impossible — and the stakes are high. Search results are cluttered with directories that haven’t been checked, resources that quietly aren’t affirming, and sites that track everything you do.

We wanted something different: a guide that a young person could open at 2am, on a shared device, without an account, and trust. Everything here is chosen because it treats LGBTQ+ young people with respect, and we build privacy in from the first line of code.

“Support shouldn’t be hard to find — and looking for it should never feel risky.”

Outline is a resource guide, not a clinic or a crisis service. What we do is curate, vet, and organize — so the moment someone is ready to reach out, the right door is easy to find.

How we vet

Every resource earns its place.

Nothing lands on Outline by accident. Before we list a provider, directory, or line, it goes through the same four checks.

1 · Affirming

Clear, public commitment to LGBTQ+ people — not just “everyone welcome,” but genuinely affirming care.

2 · Legitimate

Real credentials, real organizations. We confirm licensing and standing before anything is listed.

3 · Accessible

We prioritize free and low-cost options, and note the real cost so there are no surprises.

4 · Re-checked

Listings are reviewed on a regular cycle, and crisis info is re-verified so nothing goes stale.

What guides us

The principles behind every choice.

Privacy first

No accounts, no tracking, Quick Exit on every page. We collect as little as possible, on purpose.

Youth-centered

Written for and with young people. If it wouldn’t help a scared 15-year-old, it doesn’t belong here.

Honest & free

Outline is free to use, we don’t sell placement, and we tell you plainly what things cost.

However you found us

We’re glad you’re here.

Whether you need someone tonight or you’re just looking around, everything on Outline is free, private, and made for you.
